Senior journalist at Divaina newspaper, Keerthi Warnakulasooriya had fled South Colombo Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila while having treatments after infected with COVID-19.
According to the Thalangama Police, after Warnakulasooriya fled the hospital a team of Police and the PHI visited his home. Although the Police called him several times, he did not respond and remained silent. However, the neighbours informed the Police that Warnakulasooriya was inside the house.
Then the Police rang his land phone line but it had been disconnected as well. Finally, the Police decided to remove roof tiles and enter the house.
The senior journalist was found inside the house after that.
Warnakulasooriya is receiving home based treatments now and legal actions would be taken against him, the Police said.
