Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris today (10) said that the Cabinet decided to provide permanent solution for the decades long salary anomalies of teachers and principals in the next budget.
The Cabinet decided to appoint a Cabinet sub committee to look into the causes of the issue yesterday (9).
The Minister said that it is difficult to provide an instant solution for the matter as it has been unresolved for the past 24 years.
If a decision is taken instantly it will affect the parallel services of other public servants as well.
So, the Cabinet decided to look into the matter in depth and come up with a solution which is fair to everyone, he said.
