Garnier Banister Francis, an employee of the Swiss Embassy, has been sentenced today by the Colombo High Court. She received a suspended two-year imprisonment term, which will be in effect for five years.
The Attorney General filed indictments against Banister for having lodged a complaint with the CID, alleging that she was abducted, threatened with arms, sexually abused, detained by a group of five persons, and questioned about granting a visa to former CID IP Nishantha Silva on 25 November 2019.
This verdict comes after she pleaded guilty to the charges.
