When the discussion against General Sir John Kotelawala National Defence University (KNDU) Bill was taken placed in the early stage the SJB was not a part of it, Seniour Lecurer Anuruddha Pradeep Karnasuriya said.
Karnasuriya, in a Facebook post said that only Thushara Indunil Amarasena, Patali Champika Ranawaka and handful of SJB MPs spoke against the Bill.
He said that the KNDU Bill was originally presented during the former government. At that time only Ministers Dayasiri Jayasekara, Susil Premajayantha and Patali Champika Ranawaka spoke against it at Cabinet meetings. The SJB was in the opinion that the Bill could be passed with minor amendments.
The opinion of majority of SLPP and the SJB members is similar. However, it depends which faction is in the government, he said.
